iPhone 4G Rumors Galore: Possible Verizon Partnership, Slimmer Design, Flash Support
Apple

We’ve received a news tip from one of our readers regarding the next iPhone, which we will currently refer to as the “iPhone 4G” due to its rumored 4G functionality (the final name for the up and coming Apple device isn’t yet final). Our tipster noted that the iPhone 4G is currently being tested on Verizon’s 4G network, supporting questionable reports that surfaced a short while back.

These rumors are questionable because of the fact that the Motorola Droid, an Android phone whose ad campaign directly attacks the iPhone, will be on the Verizon network. However, an interesting find revealed by TechCrunch hints that, despite the Droid being advertised as an iPhone killer, Verizon’s CEO will still welcome the iPhone with open arms, which supports the news tip that we received today. When asked about a possible partnership with Apple, Verizon’s CEO stated this in Verizon’s earnings call yesterday on the 26th:

“We obviously would be interested at any point in the future that they would be interested in having us as a partner. … This is a decision that is exclusively in Apple’s court”

Along with the potential partnership between Apple and Verizon the tipster also noted the following regarding the device itself:

  • The iPhone 4G will be 10% thinner with a similar aesthetic look as the 3GS
  • Improved battery life over its predecessor instead of diminished battery life in the case of the 3GS
  • Revamped iPhone OS
  • Improved Push support
  • Flash, if Adobe can develop it soon enough
  • Tougher anti-jailbreaking measures
  • Revamped SIM card tray, as reported by The iPhone Blog
  • U.S only, likely for a good while
  • An official release sometime in the middle of 2010

Of course, all of this is to be taken with a large helping of salt as it’s pure speculation at this point. It’s interesting stuff though, and we’ll just have to wait to find out if it’s true or not. If any more tips reach our newsdesk, we’ll be sure to post about them.

This is exactly what I would expect from a 15 year old doing a report for his school's newspaper. Nothing but rehashed speculation from the last 3 iphonegneration s with some obscure references. You forgot the video conferencing and LED camera flash too buddy. Suprised your "tipster" didn't squeeze that in there for you.

Anything to sell advertising these days I guess.

lol. And why would we believe you anymore than our source? From the way you act. You are one of the least people to believe now.
