It isn't official word from NVIDIA, but Fudzilla's confident that they are already working on the successor to the miniscule ION chipset -- ION 2. It is planned to have improvements such as faster graphics, a decreased die size, and even more than twice the amount of shaders as the chipset that the current generation of ION is based off (the GeForce 9400M /MCP79 chipset, which has 16 shaders; therefore a proposed 32+ shaders). Plus, they apparently intend to launch the improved chipset by the end of this year. Now get back to pushing the ION chipset to more gadgets, NVIDIA... Source: Engadget |
