Lenovo And Samsung Hold Off On ION Shipments, Waits for Windows 7
Hardware
Written by Patrick Laughner on Saturday, August 22, 2009

ideapads12 Yesterday, Lenovo announced it would wait for Windows 7’s availability before shipping its IdeaPad S12. The IdeaPad S12 features NVIDIA’s ION technology paired up with an Intel Atom N270. Now the laptop is expected to ship at the end of October. Lenovo has decided that Windows 7 will sell better than Windows Vista on their laptops.

The folks at lilputing has confirmed that Samsung will be holding off as well. The Samsung N510 was to be it’s flagship ION laptop, but was slated to use the ION LE graphics core; which only supports DirectX 9. However, since the delay, if Samsung waits until October, they have time to create a model with the higher end ION. Thus giving Windows 7 the DirectX 10 support it’s built for.

It seems Windows 7 has caught the eye of some of the largest computer manufactures in the world.
