SDMS Reviews: Kova and Sota, Apuri and Arvo.

RSDMS_top-view-1024x768The Smart Desktop Management System from Roccat is a range of fourproducts that specialise in space saving, organization, ergonomics and movement. If you’ve been visiting GeekSmack for a while now and following the reviews on the front-page, you’ll have seen the Roccat products I have been reviewing for the past few months or so. Although I have already reviewed these products, its been requested and I’ve wanted to for a while test all these products again to see how they perform together as the full range. The tests I’ll be doing will be on what it says on the Roccat site the SDMS range does. With each test I will select the product or products that stand out the most. Sorry to keep you waiting, well start with the first test now:

Space and Organization

2.SDMS Apuri

KEY PRODUCT: APURI

Roccat say the SDMS range is the idea of space, order and efficiency. So I think that focusing on the Apuri is the important thing here. With its neat triangular design  and zero-drag mouse bungee, it allows all of the cables in the workstation to be organized and/or hidden. In the picture on the right, that is how I have currently set the hub basically diverting all of the cables to the right of the desk. This layout allows all of the cables to be an organized manor. A great space saver.

Ergonomics and Design

KEY PRODUCTS: ARVO AND KOVA1.SDMS Laid Out

The reason I chose these two particular products for this test is because both of them have striking designs and take ergonomics to a new level. The Arvo clearly stands out in the ergonomic side of things here, with its unique thumbster keys located under the spacebar. These three macro keys allow the thumb to step into the game, giving you that extra edge over other gamers. On the design front though, I’ll have to give this one to the Kova as its Lamborghini type feel gives it that distinctive look that no other mouse has. The LED lights set a great atmosphere in the dark and paired with the Apuri’s mouse bungee, the mouse is a much safer bet than relying on a  wireless mouse’s batteries.

Performance and Movement

KEY PRODUCTS: ALL PRODUCTS

5. SMDS Lights

I have to give movement to the Sota in this test just for the simple reason that the surface is perfect for anything. Although it is more a granular surface, movement is  still brilliant on any mouse that is used on it. Another great SDMS product for movement is the mouse bungee on the Apuri as it allows the mouse to move effortlessly and at the same time not let you worry about the cable getting tangled. Performance wise, Roccat say organization is the key to better performance, so the Apuri stands out because of the space saving features explained above. In other performance areas, there’s nothing more to say really apart from every product in the range helps performance in their own ways. The Sota with its perfect surface, the Arvo with its compact design allowing easily accessible keys and the Kova with its ability to easily switch between four DPIs quickly with no trouble.

Conclusion

As you can see above, the SDMS range is the best solution out there if you want a clean, organized, sharp looking desk with each product withholding an Innovative or unique feature. I can honestly say these products need no improvements at all, and I think this range will be popular among many for years to come.

Well that’s the end of the Roccat product reviews, I have to say its been brilliant trying out these amazing products, and I would definitely love to review or purchase future or past Roccat products as they seem to excel with release after release. I like to thank Steve Walsh of Meroncourt for supplying the Roccat products, I’d buy you a drink if I could!

And of course…..
